Brief & asset intake

CAD files, reference images, technical specs — we take what you have. If you have nothing yet, we build from scratch with a detailed reference brief.

Modelling, lighting & render

Geometry built or cleaned in Houdini. Materials and shaders set up for photorealistic output from day one. In-house render farm runs the heavy frames overnight.

Compositing & delivery

Nuke compositing, colour grade, final output in all required formats and resolutions. Broadcast, web, print — one delivery package.

What software does Gegenschuss use for 3D product visualization?
Our primary pipeline is Houdini for modelling, rigging and simulation, and Nuke for compositing and finishing. All heavy rendering runs on our in-house render farm — no outsourced compute, no queue dependencies.
Can you work from CAD files?
Yes. We accept STEP, IGES, OBJ and most standard CAD export formats. We clean and prepare the geometry for render-ready use in Houdini. If you don't have CAD data, we build from technical drawings, reference photographs or product samples.
How long does a product animation take to produce?
A standard 60-second product animation runs 4–8 weeks depending on complexity. Simple turntables and hero renders can be turned around in 1–2 weeks. Fast Track projects can start same day as brief confirmation.
What resolution and format do you deliver product renders in?
Any required resolution — 4K as standard for broadcast and print, 1080p for web and social. Output formats include ProRes, H.264/H.265, EXR sequences and still renders as TIFF or PNG. All format variants are included in the delivery package.
Can product CGI be integrated into live action footage?
Yes. We composite CGI into live footage in Nuke — matching lighting, camera movement and colour grade. This is a standard part of our pipeline for product launch and campaign content.
Can you handle pre-release product visualization under NDA?
Yes — most pre-launch product work is under NDA. We operate with secure asset handling, restricted internal access and offline review where required. Confidential CAD files and reference material stay on protected internal systems and never touch third-party services without written approval.
